Life goes on, even when we loose someone so dear to our hearts.
It's time to prepare for a another deadly July, but this time the place is Reno, in Washoe County Nevada.
A project that I started before my Grandson's accident, was a contest for local high school art students. The challenge was to design the book cover for my novel scheduled for an early summer release.
Though dealing with another deadly July,
The Murder channel is a break away from Mono County California and takes place closer to my home and work place, Reno, Nevada. The story starts with Kayla witnessing a murder on her new flat screen TV. Assuming it was just bad drama, she for gets it until she recognizes the face on the missing person bulletin.
Well, it may be another deadly July
but this time it is in Reno, Nevada with a different cast of players to cheer for. So hope you tune in to join in the fun and terror of a neighborhood killer.
To follow the action check out  https://www.facebook.com/TMC.CKay

The Murder Channel is moving along on track.
Hope you clicked on the link to the new fan page.
When the artwork gets to me from the Book Cover Design Contest, I’ll post it too, so you can help me choose.

So, why was Kayla friendly with the killer?
How did she not suspect?
It would have been easy for me to write the killer as a psychotic, sadistic man and although I would hate to live next door to a psychopath,
I would expect to sense something was “off” and keep my distance,
so why didn’t Kayla?
 She was scared.
She knew a killer was in her neighborhood, so what was it about him that totally blinded her to who he really was?

A Death in my family

Friends, last night we were awakened to the news that our 16 year old grandson was a pedestrian  hit by a vehicle that neither swerved nor braked. He was Care-flighted to the hospital where he was born, that specializes in trauma cases. As he was prepared for surgery, his blood pressure suddenly dropped and he died. His single mom is beside herself. He was her life.
My husband and I are flying to Texas to be with her Thursday morning. Saturday the 18th would have been his 17th birthday. They are hoping to share a celebration of his life with his friends on what would have been his birthday. His official Memorial Service will be held on Monday. It is a school holiday and many  of his friends have begged to be allowed to attend. Counselors  were brought into his school today.
I’m sure I don’t need to explain my lack of heart for attempting to go forward with my planned Virtual Book Tour for my newest novel,  A Deadly July.
Please keep me and my family in your prayers and hug your loved ones while you can.

A New look on FaceBook!

Amazon for Kindle eBooks and Paper editions
For other eBook formats go to  Barnes & Noble  or Smashwords

I've been advised to purchase the domain name for CK Brooks because people hearing the name, hear "CK" not "CKay". I've done that, but haven't done anything with it yet.

Playing with new software to make my Facebook pages blended and linked, I created a new fan page for CK. The software is something new for me, but I'm figuring it out. I like having photos and videos staying put, instead of working down the page to disappear as people comment.
I gave CK a fan page to show off the new look, but CK has no likes, so maybe you could drop by. The link is at the bottom.

I discovered some old photos that will bring back memories for some, and I have 4 videos. One of the videos is a Book Trailer for A Deadly July, two are from my bus tours of Nevada Mining operations. One is looking back to last year's snow and wishing and hoping for the paycheck situation to improve as 2012 builds steam. Without snow this year, paychecks are small to none.

I've come across a new promotion that may allow me to offer some big prizes like an I-Pad or a Kindle Fire for my Virtual Book Tour. I'm excited. If someone wins one on my book tour, I get one too!

Mark your calendar for Feb 17-29 to check in on each new location stop, on the tour. I'd love for you to win something nice. The 17th is my birthday and the 29th only comes around once every 4 years, so that ought to be worth something special.

OK, I need a favor. I was planning to put an interesting article and gift on this stop on the Book Tour to get this blog noticed, but unless some of you click the follow button in the next 30 days, this blog will look like a ghost town - like a friendless author resides here.

A Deadly July! Brooks' newest novel is published!

The second novel in Brooks’ Mono County Series is here; ready to start the new year off with fireworks!

As the name of the series might imply, this fiction series is based in Mono County, California. Whether you have driven through on your way north to Reno, Nevada, or on your way south to Las Vegas, Nevada or Camp Pendleton,, California  story details of the  location will ring true. You might even be tempted to stop and explore on your next trip through the area. You might of learn of an interesting place or activity you would like to investigate.

If you’ve gone to Mono County to play, even more  location details will seem familiar, regardless of the time year you enjoy your outdoor activities.

If you’ve never been to Mono County and couldn’t find it on the map, you’re missing out. Maybe it is time to turn off the TV and flip your smart phone or pad to a different kind of cop show full of action and thrills, but be warned…. reading can be habit forming.

Book one, Unexpected Rendezvous introduces you to the winter side of the landscape with a woman bus driver stopping to chain-up her bus, to keep her Marines safe. The FBI is brought in to help solve the attempted assignation of the unsmiling sheriff who finds himself laughing at the chubby driver who is mistaken for a man by many.

A Deadly July Picks up the story only a few days after Unexpected Rendezvous survives a tumultuous spring, and teases the reader into anticipation of a delightful summer, but all that changes with the twist of a cookie.

“Wild by Nature!” is the county’s motto, but even locals are mystified by July’s growing body count. Is it coincidence or something more sinister at work? With thousands of visitors arriving for patriotic celebrations, bears sniff out easy plunder creating havoc, but with the county’s death rate accelerating — bears may be the least of the sheriff’s problems. Known to be a problem solver, the sheriff’s skills are tested as he is thrust into one investigation after another. His adjustments at home create emotional chaos with his bride struggling to find her footing in his rural community. His confidence falters when he asks himself, “Is she keeping secrets or am I becoming paranoid?”

Fires, floods and murders make this book a non-stop page turner. Then, just when things couldn’t get any worse, they do.

Visit Mono County California, home to a Mecca of outdoor activities year round in the Eastern Sierra Mountains. Learn of real time problems and events, pulled from news headlines that round out a place of beauty, attracting visitors from around the world.
